INTERNATIONAL AID

As a Certified Fraud Examiner and a long-standing Member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Ray Parry, the Principal of Crimeproofing Ltd, was tasked by a well-known English soccer club with conducting an investigation into a scam originating out of Indonesia.

The fraud involved ordering and pre-paying for football-related merchandise, subsequently falsifying a claim that the goods were never delivered and then receiving contractually-obliged payment clawback thus ending up with the goods free-of-charge! There is of course no limit to the audacity and imagination of the professional fraudster.

Through his membership of the Association of Fraud Examiners Ray was able to liaise with an Association member in Malaysia who not only provided the indigenous knowledge necessary, such as a translation of legal consequences correspondence with the violating party in Bahasa, the local language, but through this backyard presence rather than from seven thousands miles away in the UK, also provided a vital local law enforcement threat element to the matter which in itself was sufficient to persuade the instigator to cease this nefarious activity.

“THE HARD WORK WAS DONE BY THE PI BUT THE BARRISTER STOLE ALL THE GLORY!”

The caption above was the email comment sent to us at Crimeproofing Ltd by the Barrister immediately following the successful conclusion of an extremely rare First Tier Tribunal case seeking the award against an agricultural tenant of what is known as a Certificate of Bad Husbandry where success in such a matter is even rarer, apparently only a handful being approved in the past 35 years. This resulted in our client regaining control of a field he owned after many years of protracted dispute involving at least five law firms and dating from the early 1980’s.

This case dramatically illustrated the value of Private Investigators in complex legal disputes where too often lawyers do not have either the time, the expertise, nor sometimes even the inclination, to become involved in oft-vital investigative detail and striking a blow for the fundamental role of Private Investigators with their unique aptitudes, research and analytical skills and debatably, in many cases, where they are as relevant and as vital to success as the legal professionals.
